CALDWELL, Idaho — College of Idaho setter Shaynee McWilliams has been named the Cascade Collegiate Conference Volleyball Freshman of the Year, leading a trio of Yotes recognized on this year's All-CCC team after a standout season that saw the squad ranked among the nation's best.
McWilliams played a pivotal role in a College of Idaho team that was nationally ranked all season long, climbing as high as No. 10 in the NAIA Top 25 Poll. Behind her consistent setting and court leadership, the Yotes closed the regular season with several key wins to lock up the No. 4 seed in the CCC Tournament.
The Meridian, Idaho native finished the year fifth in the Cascade Conference in assists per set, totaling 628 assists, 168 digs, 58.0 points, 24 service aces, and 28 total blocks across 88 sets. Running primarily in a 6-2 offensive system, McWilliams demonstrated poise well beyond her years, recording three matches with over 40 assists, including a 42-assist, 17-dig double-double at Walla Walla and a 41-assist effort against Corban.
In addition to McWilliams' freshman honor, Mia Hutchinson and Abigail Flerchinger were named to the All-CCC First Team, while Cierra Bohrn earned honorable mention in her first full season seeing significant time on the court.
Hutchinson finished the regular season fourth in the CCC in total kills, serving as the focal point of the Yotes' offense while adding nearly 150 digs to showcase her all-around game.
Flerchinger delivered one of the most balanced seasons in the league, highlighted by a career-high 15 kills and 19 points in the Yotes' five-set win over Southern Oregon on October 24. She also recorded season highs of 8 total blocks (Nov. 6 vs. Walla Walla) and 4 digs (Aug. 29 vs. Midland) while adding strong serving and front-row presence throughout the season.
Bohrn emerged as a key contributor at the net, posting 212 kills on a .232 hitting percentage and tallying 81 total blocks in her breakout sophomore campaign.
Together, the four honorees were key in powering a Yote squad that continued its tradition of excellence within one of the NAIA's toughest conferences.
