Wheeler Blocks Her Way to CCC Defensive Player of the Week

CALDWELL, Idaho - No. 18-ranked College of Idaho junior middle blocker Alexa Wheeler has been named the Cascade Collegiate Conference McDonald's Defensive Player of the Week, presented by Urban Edge Network, for her performances during competition from November 3–9, 2025, the league announced Monday.

Wheeler, a native of Spanish Fork, Utah, was a key factor in the Yotes' two must-win victories to close out the regular season, helping C of I secure the No. 4 seed in the CCC Tournament and avoid a play-in game.

The junior anchored the defense with 18 total blocks (2.25 per set) over the weekend, pacing the conference's top defensive unit. Her standout moment came in Saturday's five-set thriller against Lewis-Clark State, when she delivered a solo block to seal the match, igniting the home crowd on Jae Boots Night. Wheeler also added six kills in the victories, providing consistent play on both sides of the net.

Wheeler and the Yotes now turn their focus to the CCC Tournament, where they'll look to carry their late-season momentum into postseason play and make a run at another NAIA National Championship berth.
