FOREST GROVE, Ore. – The College of Idaho women's tennis team opened its season with a tough road test against NCAA Division III opponent Pacific University, falling in a sweep on Wednesday. Despite the final result, the Yotes battled through close matches in both doubles and singles play.
In doubles action, the pairing of Ng'andu-Tsianna Mumbuluma and Alissa Rautenberg pushed their match to extra points but ultimately fell 7-5 in the No. 3 spot. At No. 1 doubles, Hristina Ljuba and Berkley Klarich also put up a strong fight before dropping a narrow 6-4 decision.
In singles play, Berkley Klarich delivered the most competitive performance of the day, taking her first set to a tiebreaker before falling 7-6 (3), 7-5. Adele Long contributed the second-most points for the Yotes in her matchup, showing resilience in the early-season test.
The Yotes will look to rebound quickly as they continue their Northwest Oregon road trip, facing George Fox University on Thursday.
