MT. SPOKANE, Wash. – The College of Idaho ski teams delivered strong performances at the Northwest Collegiate Ski Conference (NWCSC) giant slalom races this weekend at Mt. Spokane. With podium finishes for both teams and standout individual efforts, the Yotes solidified their positions in the conference standings, with the men now sitting in second place and the women in third.
The women's team was led by Taylor Watkins, who put together a dominant weekend. On Saturday, Watkins placed second overall with a combined time of 1:52.74, supported by top-10 finishes from teammates Caitlyn Bumpers (7th, 1:57.76) and Hadley Dunlevy (10th, 2:00.74). The trio's strong showing earned the Yotes a second-place team finish with a combined time of 5:51.24.
Watkins was unstoppable on Sunday, claiming her first individual win of the season with a combined time of 1:54.28, highlighted by the fastest second run of the day (55.41). Bumpers added another strong result, finishing 7th in 2:00.03, as the women once again secured second place in the team standings.
The men's team also had an outstanding weekend, highlighted by a thrilling performance on Sunday. On Saturday, the Yotes finished third in the team standings with a time of 6:02.96, led by Carson Parco, who earned a podium finish with a third-place result (1:51.07).
Sunday saw Parco deliver an even better performance, finishing second overall with a combined time of 1:52.56, just 0.40 seconds behind the leader, Jake Farwig of Montana State. Parco's efforts were complemented by a strong showing from Jiri Vesely, who finished 6th with a combined time of 1:58.57, thanks to two consistent runs (1:00.58 and 57.99). The men climbed to second place in the team standings with a combined time of 5:57.62, marking an improvement from their Saturday result.
With Watkins' individual victory and Parco's back-to-back podium finishes, supported by consistent top-10 efforts from Bumpers, Dunlevy, and Vesely, the Yotes demonstrated depth and determination. The women sit in third place in the Northwest standings, while the men have risen to second. The College of Idaho will look to build on this momentum as the NWCSC season continues.
