MISSOULA, Mont. – The College of Idaho Yotes dropped the semi-final against the Montana Griz today in the PNCLL semi-final 17-4. It was a rematch from earlier in the season when the Yotes beat the Griz in a triple overtime thriller but unfortunately the depth of the Griz proved too much for the Yotes. The Griz went on to take the 14
th seed in the MCLA National Tournament with an at-large bid.
The Yotes fell behind 4-0 in the first quarter but used a pair of man-down penalties to pull back to 5-2 at the end of the first quarter. The smaller roster of the Yotes was dwindled down by the trials of a hard season going into the contest and the Griz's depth of talent helped them take a 17-4 commanding victory.
Brady Steen led the Yotes picking up loose balls with five ground balls.
David Alvarado picked up 5 ground balls in the tough loss for the Yotes.
Ivori Keo led the Yotes with a pair of goals.
Kip Childs also had a pair of points off a goal and an assist.
The loss will mark the Yotes end of the season. The squad finished in second place in the PNCLL South with a 7-4 overall record in 2024 and improved from last year's 6-7 record. The Yotes will be losing two typical starters to graduation next year but all but three players from this year's roster are expected to return and compete for another year of improvement going into head coach
Drake O'Neill's second year with the team.
