Box Score FULLERTON, Calif. – The College of Idaho picked up a 4-3 win over host Hope International on Wednesday afternoon. The win is the fifth of the season and the most by a Yotes team since 2017.
After a loss at No. 1 doubles, the Yotes picked up the doubles point when the No. 2 team of
Hristina Ljuba and
Anna Willcuts were winners. The two teams split the other doubles matches with College of Idaho taking the No. 1 flight with
Lauren Kreutzer and
Nicole Tran winning by a 6-1 margin.
Five of the six singles matches were decided in straight sets, the sixth and No. 6 flight was the one decided in three.
Lauren Kreutzer was a 6-3, 6-1 winner at No. 1 and
Hristina Ljuba won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3. The Yotes needed just one more victory to clinch the match.
With losses at No. 2, No. 4 and No. 5, the match came down to the No. 6 flight. The College of Idaho freshman
Elizabeth Sagehorn found herself down a set, 0-6. The newcomer from Meridian came back to tie the match at a set apiece winning the second set in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (10-3). The matchup went to a third set and played in a tiebreaker format with Sagehorn coming away with a 7-3 win to clinch the victory for the Yotes.

Jennifer Swing said after the match, "this year, the girls have been setting small goals for every match and due to that process, every time they are out on the court they succeed in those goals which moves them one step closer to winning. It is great to see it paying off."
