Box Score 3 SPOKANE, Wash. – The College of Idaho women's tennis team went 1-2 with a win over Puget Sound (7-2) and losses to Whitworth (6-3) and Lewis-Clark State (6-1). The efforts put the Yotes at 3-7 on the 2023-24 season.
The weekend started with the win over the Loggers of Puget Sound as they swept all three doubles matches. At No. 1 doubles,
Hristina Ljuba and
Nicole Tran were winners by an 8-4 margin and the No. 2 doubles team of
Lauren Kreutzer/
Anna Willcuts won in a tiebreaker by an 8-7 (10-3). The No. 3 team of
Elizabeth Sagehorn and
Hailey Mace were winners because of a forfeit by the Loggers.
As the match shifted to singles, Kreutzer at No. 1, Ljuba at No. 2, Tran at No. 3 were able to win in straight sets and Sagehorn picked up a win at No. 6 by forfeit.
Against Whitworth, Willcuts teamed up with Ljuba for a win at No. 2 doubles. The No. 1 flight was tightly contested as Kreutzer and Tran lost in a tiebreaker, 8-7 (8-6). Kreutzer and Sagehorn picked up their second wins of the day, winning in straight sets at No. 2 and No. 6, respectively.
The third match of the weekend on Sunday saw Lewis-Clark State saw Kreutzer at No. 1 singles pick up the lone win of the day. Kreutzer outlasted the Warriors' Marina Perez in a tiebreaker in the third set 2-6, 6-3, 10-6.
Next, College of Idaho will travel to the Portland area for four matches to face Willamette (Feb. 23), George Fox (Feb. 24), Pacific (Feb. 24) and Lewis & Clark (Feb. 25).
