KELLOGG, Idaho - The Yotes women's ski team continued to dominate their opponents, finishing in first place by 20 seconds en route to their third straight first place finish to open the season at Silver Mountain in Kellogg.
The leader of the pack was once again
Taylor Watkins. Watkins finished in first place overall by six seconds. Watkins recorded a first run time of 52.64, and followed it up with a 56.50 in her second run, good for 1:49.14. In fourth place overall and second on the team was
Isabelle Gustafsson, who ended her first run with a time of 56.02, and ended her second run with a time of 59.43, good for a total time of 1:55.45.
Rounding out the Yotes scoring times, in fifth place overall and third on the team was
Caitlyn Bumpers. The freshman has continued to place highly in giant slalom qualifiers, ending with a total time of 1:57.46. Bumpers ended her first run with a time of 56.76, and a second run time of 1:00.7.Â
The Yotes also had another skier finish in the top-10, as
Kayla Vandecoevering finished in seventh overall, and fourth on the team. Vandecoevering had nearly identical run times, as her first run was a time of 59.11 and her second run was just a second behind at 1:00.89.
The Yotes will look for a fourth consecutive first place finish on Sunday in the final giant slalom qualifier event of the year, before heading to slalom qualifiers starting next week.
