CALDWELL, Idaho – Four College of Idaho men's track and field student-athletes -
Daniel Butler (Buhl, Idaho),
Amari Evans (Pocatello, Idaho),
Elias Everist (Meridian, Idaho),
Braden Heath (Meridian, Idaho) - have been recognized by College Sports Communicators as Academic All-District®.
The 2023 Academic All-District® At-Large Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 29.
At the most recent 2023 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Butler was 24th in the 1500m run. He took second in the 1500 at the 2023 CCC Track & FIeld Championships and was eighth in the 800. Butler set a pair of PRs at the Oregon State High Performance Meet in the 800 (1:52.92) and in the 1500 (3:51.52).
Evans was a qualifier in the long jump for the 2023 CCC Track & Field Championships. He posted a pair of runner-up finishes in the long jump at the Yote Icebreaker and at the Lewis & Clark Friday Night Lights Meet.
Everist earned all-conference honors by virtue of a PR and third-place finish in the 10000m run at the 2023 CCC Championships. He also was 10th in the 5000 at the conference championships.
Heath picked up All-American honors at last week's NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships with an eighth-place finish in a PR in the 3000m steeplechase (9:19.20). At the 2023 CCC Championships, he was third in the 5000 (15:22.67) and fourth in the 3000m steeplechase (9:28.15). Earlier this year, he was 15th at the 2023 NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships in the 3000m run. Heath was 49th at the 2022 NAIA Cross Country Championships and 12th at the 2022 Cascade Collegiate Conference Cross Country Championships.
