POCATELLO, Idaho – A small contingent of College of Idaho track and field athletes made a strong statement at the Bengal Invitational this weekend, posting six new conference qualifying marks, three new entries into the program's all-time Top 10 list, and 26 personal records in their final tune-up before the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships.
Men's Highlights
Jeremiah Chukwudobe led the way for the Yote men, clocking a personal-best 10.94 seconds in the 100 meters to qualify for the conference meet and move to No. 6 on the program's all-time list. He also ran the opening leg of the 4x100-meter relay, joining Dylan Wolfe, Chris Shakespeare and Zach Curtsinger to post a time of 41.68, good for fourth place at the meet and the fourth-fastest time in school history. Remarkably, this year's squad now holds four of the top five marks in school history in the event.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Wolfe, Trevor Treat, Jett Longanecker and Curtsinger ran 3:18.58 to take fourth and record the second-fastest mark in school history.
In the field events, Easton St. Germain (39.43m in discus), and Tanner Macy (1.79m in high jump) each added new conference-qualifying performances. Macy also placed seventh in the javelin (44.04m), while Xavier Harms (6.16m) and CJ Mann (6.04m) went seventh and eighth, respectively, in the long jump.
Women's Highlights
Three Yote women punched their tickets to conference in individual events. Kimbrie Knudsen qualified in the 800 meters with an altitude-converted time of 2:20.00 and also finished fifth in the 1500 meters (converted 4:54.09). Kiely Munson also earned a qualifying spot in the 800 meters with a converted time of 2:20.53. Brooke Lowery added a conference mark in the 400-meter hurdles, running 1:11.18.
