Marion, Ind. - The second day of the 2023 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships saw the depth of the distance corps lead College of Idaho.

The depth of the distance corps was on display in the women's 5,000-meter run as College of Idaho landed three runners in Friday's final. The top finisher for the Yotes was
Ellyse Tingelstad, who posted the third-fastest qualifying time (17:45.71), followed by
Sage Martin, who had the 10th fastest (17:53.41) and the third qualifier was
Kahea Figueira, who posted the 15th fastest qualifying time (17:59.89). Tingelstad will look to build off her second-place finish in Wednesday's 10,000m run for her first individual All-American honor. Martin will be competing in Friday's final at 11 a.m. (MT) before joining Tingelstad and Figueira in the final of the 5,000 final at 2:30 p.m. (MT).

Earlier in the day on Thursday,
Abbey Shirts just missed out on a spot in the finals of the 800m run with a time of 2:13.27 which was good enough for the 10th fastest prelims time with the top nine advancing to Friday's finals. The two day, seven-event heptathlon came to a close for
Roby Young, who took home 13th place with 4318 points for a personal best finish for the Adrian, Oregon native.

Competing in her first NAIA Championship,
Star Herron posted a throw of 35-10.75 / 10.94m in the shot put en route to a 31st-place finish.

On the men's side,
Lane Maher clocked a time of 14.49 in the prelims of the 110m hurdles for the 12th fastest time, missing out on a spot in Friday's finals. In the 5000m run,
Hayden Bostrom was 28th in a time of 15:19.15.

Also on the final day of competition on Friday, Martin and
Larissa Mauer will return for the finals of the women's 3000m steeplechase,
Braden Heath in the men's 3,000m steeplechase,
Abbey Shirts in the 1500m run.
