CALDWELL, Idaho — Freshman Helene Rae of the College of Idaho track and field team has been named Cascade Collegiate Conference Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced.
Rae turned in a standout performance at the NNU Open on April 11, highlighted by a runner-up finish in the shot put. The Bonners Ferry native recorded a mark of 14.45 meters, an NAIA "A" standard that ranks No. 4 nationally and extended her conference-leading distance while also setting a new school record.
She added a fourth-place finish in the hammer throw with a mark of 45.95 meters and placed 10th in the discus at 35.25 meters, capping a strong all-around showing against a competitive field.
The honor marks Rae's second CCC Field Athlete of the Week award this season, an impressive feat for the freshman.
Rae becomes the latest Yote to earn weekly conference honors as the team continues its outdoor season.
