PORTLAND, Ore. - The College of Idaho women's tennis team dropped a 5-4 decision to Lewis & Clark (NCAA Division III) on Sunday.
With the match tied at 4, the host Pioneers Kacie Lau rallied for a 6-7 (2-7), 7-6, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles to clinch the match.Â
The No. 1 doubles team of
Lauren Kreutzer and
Leiana Almaraz won their third-staight match to begin the contest with a 8-5 win. Kreutzer also came back from a set down to win her No. 1 singles match, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. Almaraz continued her winning ways with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles. Wins at No. 3 and No. 4 singles to go along with wins for Lewis & Clark gave the host PIoneers a 4-3 lead in the match.Â
The Yotes tied the match at 4 with a win at No. 6 singles by
Anna Willcuts, who defeated her opponent by a 6-3, 6-2 margin. The win at No. 5 singles by Lewis & Clark clinched the match for the host Pioneers.
Next, College of Idaho will face Jessup on Saturday, Mar. 25 in Rocklin, California.
