Tacoma, Wash. - The College of Idaho posted its second-straight 8-1 win on the weekend as they defeated Puget Sound on Sunday.
"The girls played steady and stayed in control throughout their sets," said head coach Jennifer Swing. "They started strong in doubles while maintaining leads. I am proud of each girl and their fight this whole weekend."
The Yotes took all three doubles matches against the host Loggers. The day got underway with an 8-1 win by the No. 1 team of
Lauren Kreutzer and
Leiana Almaraz. Next, the No. 2 team of
Nicole Tran/
Anna Willcuts were 8-6 winners and the No. 3 team of
Morgan Leavitt/
Summer Townsend picked up an 8-7 win.
Singles play was dominated by College of Idaho that included a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles by Kreutzer. The winning continued with Almaraz with a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 2 and a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 3 by Tran. Also with wins on the day were Townsend, who won by a 6-1, 6-0 decision at No. 5 and Willcuts posted a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6.
Next, College of Idaho will face George Fox on Friday, Feb. 24 in Newberg, Oregon.Â
