Box Score WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The College of Idaho women's tennis team picked up its first win of the season by a 5-4 margin over Whitworth on Saturday.
The Yotes (1-1) began the match with a pair of victories in doubles. The No. 1 team of
Lauren Kreutzer and
Nicole Tran won by an 8-2 margin and the No. 2 team of
Hristina Ljuba and
Anna Willcuts were 8-6 winners.
Ljuba picked up her second-straight singles win with a 7-5, 6-3 win at the No. 1 flight. Kreutzer was a 7-5, 6-4 winner at the No. 2 flight and
Nicole Tran clinched the match with a 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 3.
The Yotes dropped a pair of tightly-contested matches at No. 5 singles,
Anna Willcuts lost by a 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (10-3) margin and at No. 6 singles as
Elizabeth Sagehorn dropped a 1-6, 6-4, 7-6 (10-4) decision.
It is the second-straight year that College of Idaho has defeated Whitworth.
