Carson King led the way through the first round of hte PCH Invitational at Quail Lodge and Golf Club in California.
King started off his round with a par on the first, followed by three straight bogeys through the first four holes. He would go on to par four of his final five holes to end the front nine at four over par. On the back nine, he would start with a bogey on 10, followed by a par and a birdie. From there, he would par his next four holes before recording a bogey and a birdie to end his round at four over 75, good for a tie for 10th through the first round.
Braden Brown would fire the next lowest round for the Yotes, recording a six over score of 77. The front nine for Brown consisted of three straight pars to start his round, followed by a bogey on the fourth, ultimately ending his front nine at eight over par. The back nine was where Brown got hot, carding four birdies and two bogeys, ending his round at six over.
Evan Inglesby came in third for the Yotes in the opening round, firing a seven over 78. The front nine saw Inglesby fire off seven consecutive pars through the first seven holes. On the back nine, he would card a birdie on te par four 16th, ending his round at seven over.
The fourth Yote to finish in the top 35 individually through the opening round was
Jack Phipps. Phipps would alternate birdies and pars through the first four holes on the front nine, before ending his front nine at six over. On the back nine, he would start with a pair of birdies and a par, ultimately ending his opening round at nine over 80.
Parker Edwards and Kaissan Virani would each record scores of 15 over 86 on the par 71 course. Virani would record four pars on both the front and back nine to end his round.
The Yotes will contine the tournament on Tuesday in round two.
