Women's Ski Victorious on Day One in Oregon

NORTH POWDER, Ore. - The College of Idaho women's ski team returned to the slopes for the second weekend of the season, competing in another weekend of qualifiers at Anthony Lakes Resort in North Powder.

The women's team was led by Taylor Watkins, who would finish first overall with a combined time of 1:06.25, a key performer in the Yotes race one victory, finishing ahead by a half second. Right behind Watkins was Sasha Mueller, who finished race one with a combined time of 1:06.81. The third top finisher for the Yotes was Kayla Vandecoevering, who rounded out the top skiers with a combined time of 1:25.22, as the Yotes would win race one by ten seconds.

Rounding out the top five for the Yotes was Ruby Olvera, finishing in 17th individually with a time of 1:27.24, followed by Kailey Owen with a time of 1:28.68.

The Yotes ended race one with their fastest time of the season, beating their previous best by a considerable margin, while also being only one of two schools who had five skiers finish in the top-20.

"Even with lots of snow and tough conditions, the girls team really showed up and showed out today," added Mueller. "We're super excited about our win and can't wait to do it again tomorrow."

"Although the team was faced with tough powdery conditions, we all put or best foot forward and skied our best which paid off in the end," added Taylor Watkins.

Race day two takes place on Sunday in North Powder.
