CALDWELL, Idaho – No. 1 College of Idaho punched its ticket to the final of the PNCLL Division II Tournament with a 19-5 win over Western Washington in the semifinals at Simplot Stadium on Saturday.
The Yotes (10-0) were led by a four goal, two assist effort from
Casey Davies, who scored twice in the opening minute en route to the win.
Loy Howard,
Joey Brant and
Dane Hamilton each scored three goals in the win. Howard also had four assists and Brant added three assists in the win.
Brant picked up 10 ground balls and Davies provided eight as the Yotes defense was stingy throughout the contest allowed just three goals over the final 45 minutes of action. Goalkeeper
Cade Brown had 15 saves including 10 in the third quarter in the win.
Next, College of Idaho will face Montana in the championship game on Sunday at 11 a.m. Earlier this season, the Yotes defeated the Grizzlies by a 19-6 on March 12 in Missoula. Montana defeated NNU, 18-7, in the other semifinal.
