MISSOULA, Montana – No. 7 College of Idaho men's lacrosse posted a 19-6 win over Montana for its fourth-straight double digit win and fifth in a row to begin the 2022 season on Saturday.
The contest was the first road contest for the Coyotes, who opened the season with four-straight wins at the friendly confines of the Simplot Stadium.
With an 8-4 lead at halftime, C of I unleashed a flurry on the offensive side in the third quarter with eight unanswered goals to none by the host Grizzlies.
The offense for the Coyotes in the win was paced by an eight goal, three assist effort by
Loy Howard. Teammates
Brad Hale and
Dane Hamilton each had three goals and an assist in the win.
Joey Brant had seven ground balls and a 4-1 mark in faceoffs to lead C of I.
Ty Burnett added five face off victories, plus
Daniel Skelton and
Logan Wahl had seven and six ground balls, respectively. Goalkeepers
Cade Brown and
Jacob Wong had seven and four saves, respectively.
Next, C of I will face Montana State on Sunday.
