Box Score Tacoma, Wash. – The College of Idaho nearly pulled off its second-straight win on Sunday in a heartbreaking loss to host Puget Sound.
The match saw the match begin with C of I taking all three doubles matches. Winners for the Yotes were the team of
Lauren Kreutzer and
Taylor Johnson at No. 1, Leiana Amaraz and
Anna Willcuts at No. 2 and
Morgan Leavitt and
Summer Townsend at No. 3. Leavitt and Townsend got the first win on the day, followed by Kreutzer and Johnson. The third victory came in a tiebreaker by Almaraz and Willcuts at No. 2.
Almaraz went on to pick up a win at No. 3 singles by a 6-2, 6-1 margin to put the Yotes on the brink of the victory before the host Loggers managed to win the final five singles matches for the victory.
The loss drops C of I to 1-3 on the season. Next, they will travel to Pocatello, Idaho to face NCAA Division II Colorado Mesa on Saturday, Feb. 19 and Idaho State on Sunday, Feb. 20.
