C of I Track & Field Sweeps CCC Weekly Awards

CORVALLIS, Ore. – College of Idaho student-athletes swept all four WVT Laboratory-Cascade Conference Track and Field Athlete of the Week awards, announced today by the league office.
 
Logan Hunt and Abbey Shirts were honored as their respective Runners of the Week, while Bryan Terry and Catylynn Duff were named Field Athletes of the Week after their efforts at the Stacy Dragila Open in Pocatello.
 
Hunt, a sophomore from Athol, hit the NAIA "A" standard in the 3,000-meters, placing 12th out of 39 runners with his time of 8:44.59 – ranking among the Top-20 in the NAIA this winter.
 
Shirts, a junior from Weiser, hit the NAIA "A" standard with a sixth-place effort in the mile-run, posting a career-best time of 5:09.40 – the No. 8 mark in the NAIA.
 
Terry, a senior from Winnemucca, Nev., met the NAIA "B" standard with a mark of 16.89 meters (55 feet, 5 inches), looking to qualify for the national meet for a second-straight year.
 
Duff, a senior from Culver, Ore., continued her dominance in the weight throw – improving her NAIA-best mark by nearly a foot, setting a school record with a mark of 17.90 meters (58 feet, 8.75 inches).
 
Both teams will have this weekend off in preparation for the Mountain State Games, Feb. 11-12.
