LA GRANDE, Ore. – Three College of Idaho runners placed in the Top-10, helping the Yotes to a second-place finish at the Eastern Oregon Invitational at La Grande Country Club.
Lewis-Clark State narrowly upset the Yotes, as LCSC finished with 41 place-points, one ahead of C of I's 42. The two Idaho schools were well ahead of third-place Northwest Nazarene (72).
Freshman
Kahea Figueira placed second overall – traversing the 5,000-meter distance in 19:25.50 – missing out on a second-straight individual title, as NNU's Julia Lamar earned a three-second win (19:22.50).
Senior
Larissa Mauer placed fifth overall (19:30.90) and sophomore
Sage Martin took tenth (20:09.70) – as C of I had the stellar finish, despite competing without a pair of All-Americans.
Molly Connor (20:22.00) and
Anna Labworong (20:23.00) placed 12th and 13th to complete the Coyote scorers.
The Coyotes will take next weekend off, preparing for the annual Purple and White Alumni Race, set for Oct. 2, on the C of I Campus Course.
