KANSAS CITY, Mo. – College of Idaho goalkeeper
Kylee Atkins was honored as the NAIA National Defensive Player of the Week, the national office announced on Tuesday.
Atkins is the third C of I player in program history to take home a weekly honor from the NAIA, joining Amy Rhoades (2007) and
Brittany Houghton (2014).
The keeper from Boise kept the Yotes right in the thick of the East Division title race in the Cascade Conference with a key shutout of No. 9 ranked Eastern Oregon on Mar. 29. In that contest, Atkins made five saves, highlighted by a rejection of a dangerous free kick attempt for the Mountaineers in the second half.
The Yotes are at Carroll College this Tuesday and Wednesday to round out the regular season.
