LEWISTON, Idaho – Playing their best match of the 2021 season, The College of Idaho picked up victories in both singles and doubles action and won at least four games in five of the six singles matches in the first of two contests with rival Lewis-Clark State inside the LCSC Tennis Center.
The Warriors earned a 6-1 victory on the afternoon, but the score was not indicative as to how close the match was.
Lauren Kreutzer had a banner night, picking up a straight-set victory at No. 2 singles (6-1, 6-4) over Laura Diaz, while teaming with
Taylor Johnson for a rare 6-0 victory No. 1 doubles victory over the Warriors team of Begona Andres and Alexis Maison.
LCSC earned the doubles' point by winning at No. 2 and No. 3, while adding a pair of 3-set victories in singles action.
Johnson played well at No. 1, taking the first set from Andres before falling 2-6, 6-4, 6-2, while
Leiana Almaraz earned a Set 1 win at No. 4, but Maison rallied to earn a 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory.
Both
Sara Altfas and Morgan Leavit each lost their matches, 6-2, 6-2, Altfas at No. 3 against Alexandra Barry and Leavitt at No. 6 against Bonolo Molefe.
The two teams will meet again tomorrow for a Saturday counter.
