4 All-America Honors Help Yotes to Top-20 National Finish

YANKTON, S.D. – Four All-America performances helped The College of Idaho to a 20th-place finish at the 2021 NAIA Women's Indoor Track and Field National Championships inside the Mount Marty Fieldhouse.

Catylynn Duff earned All-America honors in both of the throwing events, Abbey Shirts earned All-America honors in the 1,000-meters and helped the 4x800-meter relay team to a third-place finish and All-America accolades.

Duff opened the day by placing eighth in the shot put, recording her best mark in the second round of the finals (13.19 meters / 43 feet 3.5 inches) just off her personal best. She followed it up in the weight throw, posting a qualifying mark on her third and final preliminary attempt just to reach the finals, before unleashing a heave of 17.17 meters (56 feet, 4 inches) on her opening through in the championship round to place sixth.

Shirts had a busy day, placing seventh overall in the final of the 1,000-meters (3:00.77), while anchoring the 4x800 relay. Teamed with Payton Durocher, Roby Young and Ellyse Tingelstad, the quartet clocked a school-record time of 9:26.64 to earn the bronze medal.

Also competing today was Erin Moyer, who placed tenth overall in the 5,000-meters (18:31.16) – improving six spots from her seed time.
