LEWISTON, Idaho – A dominating performance by The College of Idaho kept the squad perfect on the 2020-21 season, winning their second-straight Cascade Conference Women's Cross Country Championship, presented by U.S. Bank, as the Lewiston Orchards Cross Country Course.
Placing their five scoring runners in front of any other team's second scoring runner, the Yotes ran away with the title, recording 33 place-points – well ahead of nationally-ranked teams from Lewis-Clark State (68) and Oregon Tech (81).
The tight pack at the front was the key, as the five scoring athletes were separated by just 15 seconds – and just five seconds off the pace set by individual champ, Faith Widman of OIT.
Freshman
Ellyse Tingelstad recorded her third Top-3 finish of the season, placing third overall (17:46), a fraction of a second ahead of teammate, junior
Larissa Mauer.
Senior
Erin Moyer took seventh overall (17:52), freshman
Sage Martin placed eighth (17:55), with sophomore
Abbey Shirts taking 11th (18:01).
A sixth Coyote, senior
Chaye Uptmor took 14th (18:22) – with the entire group a part of the 15-person All-Cascade Conference Team.
With the victory, C of I secures the CCC's automatic bid to the NAIA Women's Cross Country Championships, set for April 9 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
