LEWISTON, Idaho – A dominating performance by the No. 6 ranked College of Idaho women's cross country team netted the Yotes their third-straight win of the 2020-21 season, blitzing the field at the Lewis-Clark State Winter Invitational at Lewiston Orchards.
The Coyotes had all five scoring runners finish in the Top-6, besting the field of six teams with a score of 20 points, well ahead of nationally-ranked teams from LCSC (51) and Carroll (60) on an extremely windy day in the Inland Northwest.
True freshman
Ellyse Tingelstad made the most of her first 5,000-meter run of the season, placing second overall (17:46) – just seven seconds off the pace of champion, Reghan Worley of Carroll.
Her C of I teammates stacked up the next four positions – as
Erin Moyer placed third (17:55),
Abbey Shirts took fourth (18:05),
Sage Martin placed fifth (18:08) and
Larissa Mauer took sixth (18:23) – a gap of just 37 seconds between first and fifth places.
The squad will take next weekend off for the NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships and return to the trail on March 12 at the Walla Walla Invitational.
