CALDWELL, Idaho – Wins from
Maya Murphy,
Caroline Yannelli and
Micah Sharples capped a great weekend for The College of Idaho women's swim team, as the Coyotes claimed the title of the Association of Independent Institutions Virtual Championships inside the J.A. Albertson Aquatics Center.
FINAL RESULTS
The Yotes added a victory in the 400-yard freestyle relay to close the 3-day meet, finishing the event with 734 team points, well ahead of Loyola of New Orleans (299).
Murphy blitzed the field in the 100-yard freestyle, with her time of 53.12 seconds the fastest of the season for the junior All-American. She added a lead leg of 53.14 seconds in the winning 400-yard freestyle relay (3:41.83), joining
Reina Watkins, Yannelli and
Anna Cook on the top of the podium.
Yannelli capped her career with a win in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:29.33), while hitting the provisional national mark in an exhibition 200-yard butterfly (2:16.25).
Sharples opened the day by netting the Coyotes 20 points with a win in the 200-yard backstroke (2:22.54), with
Maddison Rice recording a second-place effort in the 200-yard butterfly (2:17.07).
The C of I divers also competed at the event – with
Alex Fisher recording the top scores on both the 1-meter (162.35) and the 3-meter (150.00) board.
