MULLAN, Idaho – Both College of Idaho alpine ski teams closed out the opening weekend of the 2021 season with second-place finishes at the USCSA Regional Qualifier 1-C at Lookout Pass.
Rocky Mountain completed a weekend sweep of competition, winning both races.
The Coyote women rode a pair of Top-5 finishes to a 2-run team time of 5:23.96, with Rocky claiming the title (4:53.65), Lookout Pass Race Team in third (5:48.04) and Idaho in fourth (6:08.72).
Sasha Mueller recorded her third Top-4 finish of the weekend, taking fourth overall (1:41.97), with teammate
Amy Farley right behind her in fifth (1:44.56). Four other C of I skiers completed two runs – as
Kayla Vandecoevering placed 14th (1:57.43),
Josie Pape took 20th (2:16.36),
Madison Ewing was 23rd (2:28.44) and
Teresa McCallum placed 24th (3:04.63).
In the men's race, Ben Troyer placed seventh overall (1:37.20) to lead the Yotes, as C of I posted a team time of 5:53.14 – behind RMC (4:37.94) and well ahead of U of I (7:50.29).
William Gisler took 13th-place (1:59.84) and
Loi Ha placed 16th (2:16.10) to complete the team scoring.
