CALDWELL, Idaho –
Maya Murphy and
Caroline Yannelli each hit NAIA "B" qualifying standards in the first meet of 2021, as The College of Idaho swim team competed virtually against Whitman College and Whitworth University.

The Coyotes raced alone inside the J.A. Albertson Aquatics Center, while the two Washington schools raced together in Spokane. Whitworth earned a 150-53 win over C of I and Whitman topped the Yotes 116-81 in the double-dual.
Murphy had a big morning in the sprints, winning the 50-yard freestyle (24.95) and placing second in the 100-yard freestyle, with her time of 54.63 seconds a season-best and establishing her second NAIA provisional cut.
Yannelli competed in the 200-yard individual medley for the first time this season, placing third overall, hitting the national provisional mark with her time of 2:15.52.
Anna Cook had an outstanding swim in the 100-yard butterfly, clocking a season-best time of 59.09 seconds to take second, improving her NAIA qualifying time.
C of I also placed second in the meet opening 200-yard medley relay, as
Reina Watkins,
Maddison Rice, along with Yannelli and Murphy shaved two seconds off their season-best time, finishing in 1:55.28.
The Yotes return to action next Saturday, competing virtually again against Whitworth and Pacific Lutheran.
