CORVALLIS, Ore. – Last season, The College of Idaho ended a 6-year title drought by winning the Cascade Conference title and placing second at the NAIA Championships. This year, the Yotes have the target on their backs, as the Purple and Gold were picked as the favorite to repeat as the CCC Women's Cross Country Preseason Coaches' Poll was released.
C of I received eight of the 11 first-place votes and led the way with 117 points in the tabulation of the 11 league coaches. The Yotes return four of their five scoring runners from last season's NAIA Championships and have added a talented recruiting class.
Southern Oregon placed second in the poll with 98, just ahead of CCC newcomer, Lewis-Clark State (96). SOU placed ninth at the 2019 NAIA Championships and LCSC placed 18th after finishing as the runner-up in the Frontier Conference.
Oregon Tech (93) and Eastern Oregon (83) rounded out the Top-5.
A 2020-21 schedule is currently being drafted – with two dates solidified, as the Cascade Conference Championships are set for March 26 in Klamath Falls, Ore., and the NAIA Championships set for April 9 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
