Women's Cross Country Ranked #1 in NAIA Preseason Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the first time in program history, The College of Idaho has ascended to the No. 1 spot in the NAIA Top-25 Women's Cross Country Coaches' Poll, as the preseason rankings were announced today by the national office.

Coming off a second-place finish at last season's NAIA Championships and returning four of their five scoring runners from that squad, the Yotes received eight of the 19 first-place votes and led the way with 513 points.

It was the 84th-straight week that the Coyotes have been in the Top-25  and surpasses the previous high water mark of No. 2 in the poll, which C of I achieved on 12 occasions.

Taylor (Ind.) holds the No. 2 spot in the poll, just ahead of defending NAIA champion, Madonna (Mich.). St. Francis (Ill.) and Wayland Baptist (Texas) round out the Top-5, with two other Cascade Conference teams in the poll – No. 13 Lewis-Clark State and No. 16 Oregon Tech.
