WHITEFISH, Mont. – College of Idaho quarterback
Darius-James Peterson has been named both the Frontier Conference and the NAIA National Offensive Player of the Week, announced by the FC and NAIA information staff.
The junior, from Novato, Calif., had a record-setting performance in the Yotes 42-41 loss to Rocky Mountain – becoming the first C of I player to combine for six touchdowns in a game.
Peterson rushed for 179 yards and a career-high four touchdowns – recording his eighth 100-yard rushing game at C of I – while becoming just the fourth Coyote to surpass the 2,000-yard rushing mark in a career. He added 223 yards through the air and two touchdown passes – with his 412 yards of total offense, the No. 4 mark in program history.
It marks the third time in his career that Peterson has earned the distinction from the Frontier Conference and his second NAIA Player of the Week honor - joining
Nate Moore as the only players to earn the honor multiple times.
C of I has a bye week in preparation for their Homecoming game on Oct. 6 vs. Carroll College.
