La Grande Escape: Yotes Steal a 7-0 Thriller

LA GRANDE, Ore. – In one of the most chaotic finishes in recent memory, the College of Idaho football team pulled off a stunning 7-0 victory over Eastern Oregon on Saturday night, fueled by a pair of game-saving plays in the final minute.

With just 1:10 remaining and the game still scoreless, Eastern Oregon lined up for a 49-yard field goal that could have sealed the win, but Sam Lowings had other plans. The junior defensive tackle came flying through the line to block the kick before senior defensive back Dee'Shon Swafford scooped up the loose ball, and raced 60 yards to the end zone to put the Yotes ahead. Josh Horn's extra point made it 7-0, igniting the visiting sideline.

Still, the drama wasn't over. On the Mountaineers' ensuing possession, Mason Priddy shut the door with his second interception of the night, sealing the Yotes' sixth win of the season.

The game was a defensive battle from start to finish. The College of Idaho (6-1, 3-0 Frontier) held Eastern Oregon (3-4, 2-1) to just 140 yards of total offense and 10 first downs while racking up three sacks and forcing two interceptions. Defensive lineman Jacob Sisson led the charge with 2.5 sacks, while Willie White and Tucker French anchored a relentless defensive front.

Offensively, the Yotes managed 255 total yards, led by Rylie Byington's 91 yards on the ground and Caden Young's 167 passing yards. Jackson Ames hauled in three receptions for 57 yards to pace the receivers.

The victory marks the Yotes' second win this season over the Mountaineers and keeps them perfect in Frontier Conference play.

The College of Idaho will return home next Saturday as the playoff push continues in Caldwell.
