CALDWELL, Idaho - The No. 15 College of Idaho controlled both sides of the ball Saturday, rolling to a 28-7 Frontier Conference win over Arizona Christian at Simplot Stadium.
The Yotes (7-1, 4-0 Frontier) found the end zone twice in the first quarter; once on a 6-yard run by Rylie Byington and again on a 2-yard plunge from Trey Gibson to build a 14-0 lead after an early defensive stop.
Arizona Christian (1-7, 0-4) answered late in the second quarter with a 3-yard touchdown pass from Josh Bell to Nate Pele-Tukumoeatu, but the Firestorm's offense sputtered the rest of the way. C of I's defense held ACU to just 116 total yards and 13 first downs on the day.
Caden Young extended the lead in the third quarter with a 16-yard touchdown strike to Jackson Ames, and Byington capped the scoring in the fourth with his second touchdown of the afternoon, a 2-yard rush that sealed the 28-7 victory.
Young led the Yotes with 130 passing yards and 91 rushing, while Byington finished with 80 yards and two scores on the ground. Gibson added 66 rushing yards. On defense, Dee'Shon Swafford posted seven tackles and a forced fumble, and Trey Jorgensen grabbed a late interception.
College of Idaho remains unbeaten in conference play and will travel to Carroll College next week.
