LEWISTON, Idaho - Big innings were the key for Lewis-Clark State on the day, as the No. 6-ranked Warriors swept a doubleheader from the College of Idaho at Ed Cheff Stadium.
L-C (16-5, 5-1 NAIA West) used a 10-run fifth inning in a 17-10 Game 1 win, adding a seven-run third inning and a six-run fourth in a Game 2 16-0 victory.
Kasey Bailey went 4-for-9 with two home runs and nine RBI in the sweep for the Warriors.
The Coyotes (9-16, 2-7) had leads of 2-1 and 4-3 in the opener - as a third inning
Dominic Conigliaro two-run double gave C of I a lead, with
Austin Van Horne and Conigliaro adding RBI knocks in the fifth to regain the lead. However, L-C hit three homers in the bottom of the frame, including 3-run shots from Bailey and Thomas Lampkin, to break the game wide open.
Conigliaro and
Chase Labbe each had three hits for C of I in the loss.
Game 2 was all LCSC - as Matt Becker and Mason Verge held the Yotes to four singles.
The two teams will complete the four-game series tomorrow with a noon doubleheader.
