SPOKANE, Wash. – Sweeping all three doubles points, Whitworth University used the momentum to defeat the College of Idaho, 9-0, this afternoon at the Scotford Tennis Center.
The Pirates (1-3) outlasted C of I in doubles' play, including an 8-3 victory at No. 1 by Emma Jo Wiley and Erica Lee over the Yotes
Alex Sorte and
Natalie Little.
In singles' play, the Coyotes (0-2) played tough in the middle of the ladder – as
Melissa O'Berto dropped a tight 6-4, 6-3 decision to Avery Liening at No. 4, while
Marissa Shirley made her collegiate debut, dropping a third-set superbreaker to Emily Sandquist, 10-5, after winning the second set, 6-4, to force the tiebreak.
C of I will play a pair of scrimmages on Sunday to close out their trip to Washington.
