KANSAS CITY, Mo. - College of Idaho placekicker
Kyle Mitchell was honored as Frontier Conference and NAIA National Special Teams Player of the Week, announced by the respective information offices.
In addition, cornerback
Tristen Alesi was named Frontier Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
Mitchell, a junior from Herriman, Utah, had a perfect afternoon in the Yotes 17-14 upset win at Montana Western - converting both extra point attempts, booting all four kickoffs out of the end zone, while nailing a school-record 45-yard field goal. He currently leads the FC in field goal percentage (6-of-7) and is second in the league in extra points made with 35.
Alesi, a junior from San Diego, Calif., finished the day with six total tackles - including one for loss - adding a pair of huge plays inside the red zone. The defensive back stopped a Western drive with a second quarter end zone interception and thwarted a fourth quarter march by forcing a fumble on the 2-yard-line.
C of I closes out the regular-season on Saturday with a noon kickoff at Montana State-Northern.
