YAKIMA, Wash. – A dominating second quarter performance helped the College of Idaho remain unbeaten on the season, blasting past Central Washington, 17-7, in a Pacific Northwest Collegiate Lacrosse League crossover matchup at Sozo Sports Complex.
Nich Guzzetti scored five goals to lead the Coyotes (2-0) attack, while
V.J. Dahm was outstanding in goal, turning away 24 of 31 Central shots.
C of I led 2-1 after one period, but scored four goals in a three minute flurry early in the second quarter to break the game open.
Tyler Sanchez started the run with an unassisted goal, while
Aaron Canode found Guzzetti for a marker to extend the lead. Guzzetti slotted a pass to
Dillon Green for a goal, with Green finding Sanchez for a strike to make it 6-1. With just two seconds left in the period, Green connected with Guzzetti for the Yotes eighth goal of the period, giving the visitors a 10-3 lead at the break.
The Wildcats (2-2) had no match for C of I's arsenal, as Guzzetti scored twice in the third quarter and
Jaden Carson tallied a hat trick in the final period to close out the win.
Jordan Cozzi had three goals to lead CWU, with Cats goalie Chiem Saeterun making 21 saves.
The Yotes close out the road trip tomorrow with a date at Puget Sound.
