CALDWELL, Idaho –
Dillon Green scored five goals and assisted on three others, as the College of Idaho improved to 5-0 for the first time in program history, opening PNCLL South Division play with an 18-6 win over Pacific Lutheran at Simplot Stadium.
Playing without three starters, including leading scorer
Nich Guzzetti, the Yotes used a commanding first quarter, scoring five-straight goals at one point – including back-to-back
Tyler Sanchez tallies – to lead 6-1.
The margin would grow to 9-3 on a Green unassisted goal midway through the second quarter, before the Lutes (1-4, 0-1) got quick goals from Ian Svasand and Elijah Singstad, to get within 9-5 with three minutes remaining in the half. The rally was short-lived as Green scored with just 19 seconds left in the frame and
Jaden Carson struck with three ticks on the clock to extend the margin to 11-5.
C of I outscored PLU 7-1 in the second half – including three
Aaron Canode goals.
Canode finished with four goals and two assists, Carson added three goals and a helper, with Sanchez and
Servando Guerrero each scoring two.
The Yotes hit the road in two weeks two matches in Ashland, Ore., meeting No. 23 UC-Santa Cruz and No. 16 Southern Oregon.
