Overtime Loss Ends Yotes Season in PNCLL Quarterfinals

BOISE, Idaho – A.J. Hoffman scored one minute into sudden death overtime, helping two-time defending champion Western Washington to a 10-9 victory over the College of Idaho in the quarterfinals of the Pacific Northwest Collegiate Lacrosse League Championships at Lincoln Avenue Field.

The Vikings (8-5) advance to the semifinals to meet Southern Oregon, while the Coyotes (7-4) saw their season end.  All four C of I losses this season were by one goal – including three overtime losses.

WWU won the face off in the extra session, methodically working the ball around, finding Hoffman for the golden goal.

The Yotes used a stellar four quarter to erase a 9-6 WWU lead.  Bryan Dilworth started the rally, finding Ian Williams for a strike with nine minutes left to cut the deficit to two, with Nich Guzzetti tallying an unassisted goal four minutes later to pull C of I within a goal.  Inside the final minute, freshman Jason Leach made a great run, scoring the equalizer with just 35 seconds remaining to force the overtime.

Guzzetti scored four goals in the loss for the Coyotes, with Williams, Leach and Dillon Green each scored two goals.
