CALDWELL, Idaho –
Dillon Green scored the go-ahead goal with just 46 seconds remaining, as the College of Idaho outlasted Central Washington, 20-18, at Symms Field.
After Brendan Carpenter gave the Wildcats (3-4) an 18-17 lead with two minutes left, the Yotes used a time out to regroup and Green took over. The junior scored the tying goal on a long run with 77 seconds left, and following a face off win, found the net for the fourth time in the game to give C of I the lead back. A
Nich Guzzetti goal inside the waning moments capped the victory.
C of I (5-1) led 11-7 at the break, but CWU methodically chipped away at the lead - taking the lead at 16-15 on a Blake Picchena goal with 10 minutes left in the game. The Yotes drew even on a Guzzetti strike and took a 17-16 lead on a
Jason Leach tally, only to see Carpenter give the Cats the lead back - setting up the frantic finish.
Guzzetti led the Yotes with seven goal, eight ground ball recoveries and one assist, with
Ian Williams scoring five goals. Goalie Virgil Dahm had 13 saves.
The Coyotes close out the home season next weekend with games against Portland and Southern Oregon.
