TACOMA, Wash. – Despite winning 2-of-3 doubles' matches, the College of Idaho dropped a pair of tight singles' matches, as Pacific Lutheran rallied for a 5-4 victory over the Lady Yotes at Sprinker Recreation Center.
Box Score The Yotes (3-4) played well in all three doubles matches – getting wins from
Erin Huffman and
Hailey Boyd at No. 2 over Emily Bower and Emily Beemsterboer, 8-4, and
Laura Humphreys and Vanessa Alamaraz earning an 8-5 win at No. 3 over Ingrid Ericksen and Lilly Le. C of I nearly made a complete sweep, but PLU's Caroline Dreher and Megan Beyers outlasted
Allie Boyd and
Megan Huffman, 9-8, winning the tiebreaker, 7-3.
The Lutes (4-3) got a win by Dreher at No. 1 singles' over
Megan Huffman (6-2, 6-1), with the Yotes'
Allie Boyd rallying for a three set win at the No. 2 position over Megan Beyers (3-6, 6-3, 6-3). However, PLU won the match by sweeping the three matches in the middle of the singles' ladder – including a three-set win by Bower over
Erin Huffman (6-2, 5-7, 6-2).
The Lady Yotes return to the Treasure Valley in two weeks – playing matches against Boise State, Lewis-Clark State and Willamette.
