TACOMA, Wash. – For the first time since the 2008 season, the College of Idaho women's tennis team has won three-straight matches against four-year competition, dispatching the University of Puget Sound, 7-2, at the UPS Tennis Center.
Box Score The Lady Yotes (3-2) won 2-of-3 doubles matches, adding five singles victories in completing a season sweep of the Division III Loggers (0-6).
Switching up doubles teams worked for the Yotes, as
Erin Huffman and
Hailey Boyd cruised to an 8-1 win at No. 2 over Tresa Bild and Claire Fitzgerald, while at No. 3,
Laura Humphreys and
Melissa O'Berto rolled past Kyla Richards and Mei Roen, 8-2.
Setting the tone in singles' play was
Megan Huffman, who won 6-1, 6-2 at the top of the ladder over Nicole Bouche.
Erin Huffman added a 6-4, 6-2 win over Richards at No. 3; Humphreys grinded out a super-breaker win at No. 4 over Fitzgerald (4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-7)); Boyd topped Roen at No. 5 (6-1, 6-0); with
Vanessa Almaraz taking No. 6 singles by default.
The Lady Yotes return to the court Saturday for an early morning match vs. George Fox.
