NAMPA, Idaho – Dominating the bottom of the singles ladder, the College of Idaho swept a pair of matches this afternoon against the University of Puget Sound at River City Racquet Club.
Match 1 Match 2 The Lady Yotes (2-2) ended a six-match losing streak to the Division III Loggers with 6-3 and 8-1 victories.
In the early match, C of I took two of the three doubles points – with
Allie Boyd and
Hailey Boyd cruising to an 8-2 win at No. 2 over Tresa Bild and Sophie Geha, while Laura Humprheys and
Melissa O'Berto topped Mei Roen and Kyla Richards, 8-1.
In singles, the Boyd sisters turned the tide in the match – as
Allie Boyd beat Geha 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 and
Hailey Boyd earned a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 4. Humphreys gave C of I the victory with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Roen.
The night match was all Coyotes – sweeping all three doubles points, including an 8-2 win at No. 1 by
Megan Huffman and
Erin Huffman over Lizzy Chao and Tresa Bild. The Huffman's each earned wins in singles play –
Megan Huffman topping Chao at No. 1, 6-4, 6-3 and
Erin Huffman winning at No. 3, 6-3, 6-3 over Geha.
The Lady Yotes will take the next two weekends off until a trio of matches in Washington the first weekend of March – starting with a rematch against the Loggers (0-2).
