NEWBERG, Ore. - Sweeping all six singles matches of the morning, George Fox University earned an 8-1 victory over the College of Idaho at the GFU Tennis Courts.
Complete ResultsThe Yotes (1-1) played well in doubles' action, as sisters Erin and Megan Huffman moved to 2-0 on the season at No. 2 - earning an 8-4 pro-set victory over Catrina Kwong and Andrea Motley. Â C of I nearly won at No. 3, but Krista Rey and Ali Diehl of the Bruins (3-0) grinded out a 9-7 win over Vanessa Almaraez and Laura Humphreys.
Singles' play was all GFU, including 6-1, 6-1 wins at No. 1 by Sarah Tuemmler over the Yotes Shae Stults and at No. 3 by Taylor Barnes over Humphreys. Â C of I played tight matches at No. 2, with the Bruins Chantelle Hadeed defeating Megan Huffman 6-4, 6-4, while Shelby Arnold defeated Almaraz at No. 6, 7-5, 6-3.
C of I closes out their opening weekend tomorrow with a morning match at Pacific University.
