Yotes Rout NNU in First Canyon County Lacrosse Matchup

CALDWELL, Idaho - Ian Williams scored a match-high five goals and Dillon Green tallied three-straight first half goals that broke the game open, as the College of Idaho stopped Northwest Nazarene, 18-2, at Symms Field.

The match-up between Canyon County schools was the first-ever on the lacrosse field - with the game the first in NNU's history.  The Coyotes (5-4), who have fielded a team since 2004, rolled up a 50-10 edge in total shots in the easy win.

C of I struck first, as Austin Mendiola found the net on a pass from Alexander Campos just two minutes into the game.  The Crusaders countered, as Keith Moilanen scored NNU's first-ever goal, pushing a ground ball into the net to even the score.  The Yotes took over from there, as Green scored back-to-back goals in a 70 second stretch to make it 4-1, then opened the second period with a goal off a Campos feed.

Williams added two goals in the second frame, helping the Yotes to a 9-1 lead, then scored three times in the second half - including a behind the back score that made it 12-2.

Mendiola, Zac Holley, and Korey Gambill each scored two goals, with Campos adding two goals and four assists.
