CALDWELL, Idaho - Beginning their second season as a club program, the College of Idaho men's tennis squad opened a short 2014 campaign with a 7-2 loss to Treasure Valley CC at the Cunningham Courts.
Complete ResultsThe Yotes got off to a quality start, winning 2-of-3 doubles matches - including an 8-6 victory at No. 2 by Cristian Sanchez and Nissanth Kumar over the Chukars Bryce Marvin and Jonahs Joudrey. C of I also rolled to an 8-3 win at No. 3, behind the play of Andres Idoeta and Lucas Barrutia, dispatching Martin Loya and Dallas Henry.
C of I dropped the No. 1 singles match when Isaac Creed was unable to continue - evening the match at 2-2, then lost three tough matches in the middle of the ladder - including a three-set marathon between Marvin and the Yotes Yan Gioseffi. Gioseffi dropped Set 1, 6-3, but won a second-set tiebreak to force a superbreaker, losing it 10-8.
The two teams will meet again on April 20.
