Tennis Yote Notes - Edition 5

COMING UP:  Men at Treasure Valley CC, Tuesday, 4 p.m.; Women at Treasure Valley CC, Wednesday, 4 p.m.
 
LAST WEEK:  Men vs. Treasure Valley CC (W 7-2), Women vs. Treasure Valley CC (W 7-0)
 
LADY YOTES DOMINATE TVCC: Playing in their lone home match of the season on Tuesday afternoon, The C of I women rolled to a 7-0 victory over a short-handed Treasure Valley Community College squad.  The Yotes made quick work of two doubles matches – as Hayley Hutchings (Nampa, Idaho / Skyview HS) and Emily Tesnohlidek (Fruitland, Idaho / U. of Idaho) earned an 8-1 victory at No. 1 and Cassie Low (Prineville, Ore. / Crook County HS) and Tanya Greenwood (Hailey, Idaho / Wood River HS) rolled to an 8-2 win at No. 2.  In four of the five singles matches, C of I players dropped a total of nine games in picking up the sweep.
 
DOUBLES TEAMS CONTINUE TO ROLL: With their two victories, the Lady Yotes continued their outstanding play in doubles competition – having won five straight matches and 10 of their last 11 dating back to mid-March.
 
COYOTE MEN OPEN CLUB ERA WITH WIN: Competing as a team for the first time since the program was relegated to club status, the Coyote men picked up a hard-fought 7-2 victory over Treasure Valley CC.  After winning two doubles’ points – including a tough 9-8 victory by Oscar Mariscal (Nampa, Idaho / Nampa HS) and Yan Gioseffi (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil / Peninsula CC) at No. 2, the Yotes won the top four positions in the singles ladder, including a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles from Lyle Haskill (Nampa, Idaho / Skyview HS).
 
SCHEDULE CHANGES: The C of I has announced some additions to the tennis schedule heading into the final stretch of the season.  The Lady Yotes will play one final match – an scrimmage at Treasure Valley CC on Wednesday afternoon, while both teams will participate in an Alumni match on April 28.
 
GAMES WON: Men – Zach Buker (Boise, Idaho / Borah HS) 13, Yan Gioseffi 13, Lyle Haskill 12, Drew Ake (Kuna, Idaho / Kuna HS) 12, Oscar Mariscal 8, Lucas Barrutia (Boise, Idaho / Capital HS) 4.  Women - Hayley Hutchings 67, Emily Tesnohlidek 57, Shae Stults (Nampa, Idaho / Columbia HS) 48, Tanya Greenwood 42, Emilee Chapman (Eugene, Ore. / Marist HS) 36, Rachel Webster (Twin Falls, Idaho / Twin Falls HS) 31, Jamie Taylor (Eagle, Idaho / Eagle HS) 15, Cassie Low 12.
 
ABOUT THE COACH: Cisco Limbago is in his 28th year of coaching tennis at The C of I. A native of Waianae, Hawaii, he was a standout football player at the College of Idaho, holding the No. 2 spot all-time in receptions and receiving yards. He is also the longest serving coach on the current C of I staff. During from 1987-91, the Coyotes won four of five NAIA District titles and competed at the NAIA Championships. During the 2001 and 2005 seasons, his squad placed second at the NAIA Regional Tournament. Limbago has recorded .500-or-better marks in 18 of his 27 seasons at The C of I. In addition to coaching at The C of I, Limbago was an elementary P.E. teacher in the Meridian School District, and has served as C of I's official scorer at basketball games for five decades. He is married to wife Mary Lou and has two children; Brandi and Dan.
