CALDWELL, Idaho - Playing their first match as a club team after the program lost varsity status last summer, The College of Idaho men's tennis squad picked up a hard-fought 6-3 win over Treasure Valley Community College at the Cunningham/Roberge Courts.
The Yotes won 2-of-3 doubles' matches - with the team of Yan Gioseffi and Oscar Mariscal rallied for a 9-8 win at No. 2 over Martin Lora and Cristian Sanchez, while Zach Buker and Lucas Barrutia earned a 8-6 over Sven Kubatov and Tanner Nielson.
The top-four spots in the singles' ladder clinched the win - all picking up victories. Drew Ake made quick work of Jonahs Joudrey at No. 1, winning 6-1, 6-2, with Lyle Haskill winning 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2 over Kyle Spivey.
The two teams will have a return match-up in Ontario, Ore., next week.
